Made from our exclusive Americas Cup sail cloth used in the 35th Americas cup Yacht Race, this keyring it truly a 1 off! Each one is cut from a different section of the sail and may have a different appearance to the one shown.

This prestigious range is made from up-cycled sailcloth donated to The Old Salt Loft by the British Challenger for the 35th America’s Cup.

  • Every item is cut from a different section of the sail making them completely unique! 
  • Our Americas Cup 2017 logo (AC XVII) identifies the year the campaign took place.
  • We cut the AC XVII bags out of sails originally manufacture by North Sails made from their 3Di Raw which is the most advanced racing sail.
  • The inherent nature of the sail makes the bags light weight and extremely durable. 

At The Old Salt Loft we are passionate about recycling and when the opportunity arose to up-cycle sails previously used in the Americas Cup in Bermuda we jumped at the chance, although not without a few challenges.

The sails have the unique appearance of a non rip paper but as thick as cardboard making the bags feather light and incredibly strong. As you can imagine just cutting the cloth is hard work because they are designed not to rip!

The 3D composite construction also proves to be tricky... trying to find when the layers are getting thicker and placing the template to cut the bag is a well thought out process.

There are no stitching lines, clews or similar features that you would expect to find in a traditional sail - these were designed for extreme racing! 

We have added our own unique logo, 'AC XVII' as a reminder that the bag has been reborn from sails used at the Americas Cup in 2017 and you can be a proud owner of a piece of British sailing heritage. 

Please note: Due to the nature of the bag being completely unique and cut from different parts of each sail your bag will differ from the image shown.
